For some, the traditional mother figure may not have been present, but throughout life, we often find souls who step up to embody that loving presence in ways that profoundly shape us.

Though often mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day (which is actually celebrated on September 16th), Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862, where Mexican forces triumphed against the much larger and better-equipped French army.
